The countenance that Charles wears is enough to express the lack of satisfaction that this vague and self-deprecating explanation brings him, but there are somethings about having a younger sister that make it awkward for him to pry too deeply, especially now that she's no longer the small child he first met. He can always cheat, of course, steal a peek into the depths of her mind and check to see for himself, but he's already broken far too many promises without adding to the list any further.
