Raven wants to say yes. She wants to tell him that she doesn't want to watch the parade of women that are not and never will be her. That she wants him to cut himself off from love just as she has to. But to do that would be cruel and the last thing she wants to do to him is be cruel. She loves him in both ways he does and doesn't understand. If she isn't selfish, the only other thing she wants is for him to be happy and if they can make him happy...how can she refuse him that?
"But to do that," she answers eventually, "is to make you someone other than Charles Xavier and I love him too much to ever ask that of you." It's an admission and one she's made before. It's one she can make because she's supposed to love him. That's what all good sisters are supposed to feel for their brothers and something she's struggled to feel ever since boys stopped having cooties. That fraternal affection that he has for her. Fraternal might be on the list of her feelings, but it's far from the top of the list.
She turns her head and closes her eyes and impulsively kisses his cheek. "I would hate standing in the way of the thing that makes you happy."
