Charles may be a lot of things, but cruel is not one of them, and he can tell, with the advantage of sensing thoughts and feelings or not, that the point he was attempting to make somehow got lost in translation. Home isn't far away now, but still he steps out in front to stop Raven in her tracks, and he pulls her under the shelter of one of the shops along the way to protect them from the rain that seems to be growing heavier by the minute.
"Raven, listen to me," he orders, hands holding onto her shoulders to keep her in place, and gaze fixed solely upon her. "If ever I were to find myself in a relationship, the last thing that I would want is for you to no longer be there. You are my sister, and I do love you, dearly, but sometimes it is difficult. I hold you back at times, of that I am aware of, and you deserve better than I have ever been able to truly offer you. But in spite of that, you must know, surely, that everything I have ever done was always in your best interests."
He stands there for a while longer, watching, waiting, but not really sure what for. He can tell that there's more to this argument of sorts than he is able to understand, and even if he does peer into her thoughts he knows that he will only find himself that much more baffled for it. "If you do feel the need to leave, then I won't stop you, not if it's what you truly want. But I will always be there for you, Raven, no matter what happens, or who comes and goes. You will always be the most important person in my life."
